  3. Stay at low paying job or teach English abroad?

I’m 29 years old and I’m having a hard time figuring out what to do with my life. I studied communications in college with no exact career goal in mind besides graduating while doing internships in different fields to gain experience.

My first job I worked as an office assistant for a homeless shelter and while I didn’t hate it, I wasn’t passionate about working with the homeless.

My second job I currently work as an office coordinator doing data entry type work for a major logistics company. While I don’t mind the work and it fits my personality, I don’t particularly enjoy the logistics industry. The only downsides is that the benefits are great and the 401K matches.

Basically, I always wanted to teach English abroad since my second-third year of college but certain things came up that dissuaded me from trying.

However, a few years after graduating and feeling stuck in my current life style (I can’t move out because I live in NYC and it’s too expensive).

Right now, I’m currently waiting to see how the COVID situation is being handled. Positions have been frozen or lost, so I’m unsure how things will change in regards to next year.

But I really want to teach abroad and I have been studying in my TEFL course. I’m also working on my application but I’m having second guesses.

At this point, I’m just waiting and working at my current job to see what is going to happen.
